Recently we asked our customers to help settle an important question:
What should we name our next coffee?
Instead of making the call ourselves, we put several ideas out to a vote and let the people who actually drink our coffee decide. The response was incredible and the community showed up in a big way.
After the dust settled, three names rose to the top.
The Top Contenders
A few names quickly separated themselves from the rest:
- Stonewall Strong
- Ol’ Dixie Double Barrel
- Jubal Early Morning
Each had its fans and plenty of folks had strong opinions about which name should take the lead. But one clearly captured the spirit people were looking for.

Introducing: Stonewall Strong
Our newest coffee will officially carry the name Stonewall Strong.
The name draws inspiration from Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson, one of the most well-known commanders of the American Civil War. The nickname “Stonewall” came during the early stages of the conflict at the First Battle of Bull Run when Confederate troops were wavering under heavy pressure. According to legend, a fellow general pointed toward Jackson’s brigade and said they were standing “like a stone wall,” rallying the line and helping turn the tide of the battle.
The name stuck and from that moment on Jackson became widely known as Stonewall.

A Reputation for Bold Leadership
Jackson quickly built a reputation as one of the Confederacy’s most effective battlefield commanders. His campaigns in Virginia during 1862, often called the Valley Campaign, became famous for their speed and unpredictability. Jackson moved his forces rapidly through the Shenandoah Valley, keeping Union armies off balance and earning a reputation for striking hard and disappearing before opponents could regroup.
Those maneuvers helped cement his status as one of the most admired generals serving under Robert E. Lee and the Confederate States Army.
Jackson was also known for his strict discipline and deep personal faith. He expected a great deal from his soldiers, but many respected him for sharing the hardships of campaign life alongside them.
A Life Cut Short
Jackson’s career ended unexpectedly after the Battle of Chancellorsville. After a successful flanking maneuver that surprised Union forces, Jackson was accidentally wounded by friendly fire while scouting ahead of his own lines at night.
Complications from those wounds led to his death days later in May of 1863. His loss was deeply felt by Confederate leadership and General Lee reportedly said that while Jackson had lost his left arm, “I have lost my right.”
